Description
The Transhield provides superior protection for AC power by providing a lower clamp level than a regular TVS diodes (SAD).   This is a achieved by reducing the slope resistance to almost zero.  In this case as the Transhield switches on at the breakdown voltage, instead of the voltage continuing to rise as more current is applied to the device it remains at the same level, even as more current is applied.  The Transhield is unique in that the clamp voltage (VCL) is typically the same as the breakdown voltage (Vbr).*
Due to this unique phenomenon the current capability of the silicon is increased considerably.  For a similar sized TVS die, the Transhield can absorb typically 50% more current for the exact same die size*
